About Us

Founded in 2014 by a group of Professional Maronites, led by His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, our Vision is “To Give Back.”

Mission

To build a community of Maronite professionals in Australia, and become the foundation upon which the next generation of Maronite professionals may firmly stand with confidence and unity.

Overview

AMPC is a national non-profit organisation uniting Australian members of the Maronite Catholic Church, who have a real concern for the prosperity and welfare of this country. The AMPC is a platform that is dedicated to connecting Maronites and coming together as professionals.

Maronite Heritage

On the mountains of Lebanon, in this mystical land, in these deep valleys, among these white mountains, in the land of honey and milk, in the nation of the Cedar and the Alphabet, in the Phoenician land, there the Maronite Church, the smallest of all the churches, has grown like a mustard seed and become a tree, so that several churches and denominations have come to be sheltered in its branches. The history of the Maronites was sealed by persecution and martyrdom for the sake of Faith, Freedom, and Independence.

Maronites in Australia

In 1889 the Maronite Patriach saw that the number of Maronites in Australia was large enough to establish a Maronite Mission. Two Priests were chosen to come to Australia, Fr. Abdallah Yazbeck, and Fr. Joseph Dahdah. They arrived in Sydney on 8th May 1893.
Not long after their arrival in 1894 a Maronite chapel was set up in Waterloo and served until 1897, when the new Church was blessed by Cardinal Moran and dedicated on 10th January 1897.
